Outings for 2020

“The lesson I have thoroughly learnt, and wish to pass on to others, is to know the enduring happiness that the love of a garden gives.”  Gertrude Jekyll
Introduction
Our coach outings to gardens and garden shows are enjoyed by all who join them and are seen by the committee as an important feature of CSGGA.  Not only do these trips enable us to be inspired by beautiful gardens, they are also a great way to meet old friends and make new ones.

How to book - please click here for booking conditions

Prices shown are those for CSGGA Members.  There are sometimes places available for non-members but the price may differ.  If you are not yet a member of the Gardens Association but wish to enquire about making a booking please click here

Outings for 2021:

It is hoped that we will be able to resume our planned programme of outings, all of which were cancelled in 2020.  Please watch this space for details, as a taster of things to come we plan to visit Pashley Manor and Caxton House Garden in Sussex on Thursday 29th April, 2021 - tulip time !

Pashley Manor, East Sussex
We will spend 3 hours at the award-winning Pashley Manor Gardens to coincide with their stunning Tulip Festival which features 35,000 tulips in one hundred and twelve different varieties, planted in colour themed garden ‘rooms’. Yet more tulips are on display as cut flowers in the ‘Bloms Bulbs’ marquee.  The gardens also feature a Bluebell Walk which is often in flower around the same time as the tulips.
A guided tour is included when we arrive and there is time for lunch afterwards in their café if you wish (or take a picnic which may be eaten in the car park field).
For more information go to: www.pashleymanorgardens.com/events/tulip-festival/
We then move on to Caxton House (NGS) to explore the owners’ private gardens and enjoy a home-made cream tea before we return home.
The gardens include an Arboretum with wildflower garden, two well stocked ponds, a large collection of hellebores and spring flowers. There is also a small Gothic folly built by the owners.
The gardener, Richard, will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. For more information go to:

For a change, and to accommodate those of our members who work during the week, we hope to offer a Saturday visit on 24th July, 2021 to the National Memorial Arboretum including Plant Hunters Fair and another garden.

Beth Chatto’s Garden is on the list for Thursday, 19th August.

We hope to visit RHS Wisley in October to coincide with their Taste of Autumn event.

We’d like to explore possible outings around Christmas time as no doubt we’ll be ready for something special this year, given what a damp squib the whole thing was in 2020, do let us know if you have any suggestions.

 Watch this space for updates.
