8th   January:  TAMING THE INDOOR JUNGLE - Chris Day

Houseplants are thriving again!  Discover how to grow lush foliage and stunning flowering plants - from spider plants to moth orchids - and learn how indoor greenery boosts your health.  With hand-on experience from Rohchford's Houseplants, Chris Day share practical, expert tips to help your indoor jungle flourish.


12th February: PHARMACY, PLANTS, POTS AND POISONS - Briony Hudson
Briony explores the fascinating history of plant-based medicines, from garden and hedgerow remedies to apothecary cures, and how people learned to use plants safely and effectively. Director of Amersham Museum since July 2022, she has a background in pharmacy history and medical museums, and continues to research historic treatments and practitioners.


12th March:  QUEEN OF THE WOODS - THE BEECH - John Tyler
John has worked in nature conservation for over 25 years. In this talk, he explores the beech tree—the species that gives the Chilterns much of its distinctive character. Following the life of a beech from seedling to maturity, he reveals the plants, animals, and fungi that depend on it, its long relationship with people, and what the future may hold for this iconic tree.  www.johntyler.co.uk

10th  April: SPRING SHOW + PELARGONIUMS 
Always a highlight of the year for members with a bit of friendly competition between amateur growers.  The show offers the chance to show off your daffodils, rhubarb, houseplant or any other plant for that matter! 

PELARGONIUMS - Derek Lloyd
Derek is a local pelargonium enthusiast, who will share expert tips on cultivating these beloved summer plants, from care and feeding to ensuring vibrant blooms all summer. 


14th  May: GROW YOURSELF HAPPY! - Kathy Slack
In our collaboration with the Literary Festival, Kathy shares how growing food helped her through depression and how food production shapes mental health. Drawing on her memoir Rough Patch, she recounts a year of recovery with stories of marauding pigs, lessons from planting leeks, recipes for a courgette glut, and the surprising joy of a single radish seed. www.kathyslack.com

9th  July:  WILDLIFE ON YOUR DOORSTEP - Tom Way
Tom’s talk will showcase the incredible wildlife right on our doorsteps—from deer and hedgehogs to owls and foxes. He will share his stunning local wildlife photographs and the stories behind how each shot was captured.  www.tomway.co.uk/


13th  August: AT THE NURSERY - Jacqueline Aviolet
Jacqueline has been a nurserywoman and public speaker for decades, inspiring a love of horticulture with humour and charm. She’ll share insights from life in a traditional nursery, including favourite plants, a live cutting demonstration, and a lively Q&A session.  www.rosiesgardenplants.com

10th September:  WILDFLOWER MEADOWS - Souren Ala
Souren has been a professional gardener for 25 years. He designs, plants, and maintains gardens, and has installed numerous wildflower meadows for clients. In this talk, Souren will explore wildflower meadows—their history, practical “how-to” tips, and real-life case studies.  www.sourenala.com

8th October: AGM and Members Autumn Show
Bring along your dahlias, apples and pot plants and enter into a little light-hearted garden rivalry!



12th November: FROM SEED TO PLATE - Paolo Arrigo
Paolo Arrigo, MD of Franchi Seeds UK and Slow Food UK Person of the Year 2019, will share his passion for gardening and Italian cuisine, exploring vegetables from Roman times to today and the seed industry. With charming stories and anecdotes, he will take us on a culinary journey across Italy  www.seedsofitaly.com



 10th December - Christmas Party
Our  annual party is a chance to celebrate the year and enjoy an evening with friends and fellow gardeners.  The night will feature a seasonal dinner, fun quiz and a raffle.
